GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
- The Planner/Production Control Technician’s primary purpose is to analyze inventory, release work orders, schedule machines and outside resources efficiently and effectively assuring that the customer gets their product in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule the manufacturing area, using Visual scheduler and excel reports, to meet customer demands.
- Learn shipping and receiving processes.
- Analyze inventory/material planning report to create and release work orders.
- Oversee the day-to-day workflow and communication of work orders to outside services and all BTM departments e.g. manufacturing, finishing, assembly, specials and rework.
- Review reports and plan the scheduling of material.
- Dispatch/receive material to/from outside resources as required
- Work with outside service suppliers to ensure parts are on time.
- Communicate consistently with customer service regarding scheduled due dates.
- Respond to customer concerns and demands as necessary and coordinate expedite orders.
- Follow documented QMS procedures, processes, and work instructions.
- Follow shop safety rules consistently such as safety glasses, footwear, clothing, etc.
- Properly close work orders after completion ensuring times, costs, and WIP status is correct.
- Assist in physical inventory events.
- Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by Supervisor/Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with basic machining operations, material and inventory control, and scheduling.
- Good understanding of common computer office applications (MS-Word & Excel)
- Must have experience in MRP, including creating part numbers, scheduling, and creating Bill of Materials
- Basic blueprint reading skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and be a “team player”
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Valid Michigan driver's license.
EDUCATION:
- Associate Degree or equivalent
