GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • The purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer/Estimator is to profitably apply BTM resources to meet BTM or customer manufacturing expectations as described by drawings and/or written specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Correctly apply the BTM Quality System (QS) to the below described responsibilities.
  • Thoroughly understand provided drawings, specifications, tolerances and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Develop, document and cost estimate the necessary process steps to ensure BTM or customer requirements are met using the Estimating Worksheet.
  • Using the AQP process assess and verify that BTM production, fabrication, assembly and quality control equipment and personnel are capable of manufacturing products in accordance with the provided drawings, specifications, tolerances and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provide a quote which accurately and efficiently describes to the customer what will be delivered, when and on what financial terms.
  • Properly enter the Customer Order (CO) into the Visual ERP system.
  • Develop, control, project manage and maintain thoroughly described manufacturing processes including shipping instructions by using Engineering Masters/Work Orders.
  • Initiate and conduct pre and post purchase order AQP or production planning meetings as required by the QS.
  • Prepare and release the Job Pack information (work order, drawing(s) and any other specifications) to the Production Control/Manufacturing department.
  • Project manage the CO to remove any restrictions to on time and profitable delivery.
  • Cost estimate the manufacturing of BTM component parts for standard and special products along with contract manufacturing work.
  • Participate in product design reviews as required
  • Communicate with customers to properly quote contract machine work.
  • Serve as customer contact for all contract machine work issues.
  • Be involved, when required, in all of the following engineering activities for standard and special products and contract manufacturing:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum (10) year's experience as a machinist in a metal removal environment.
  • Minimum (5) year's experience as a manufacturing engineer in a machining environment.
  • Mechanical knowledge as required in common machining and assembly processes. 
  • Ability to understand the various types of equipment and tools required to efficiently manufacture air and hydraulic devices.
  • Mathematical ability at the level required performing engineering functions.
  • Reasoning (logic) for on-the-job problem solving and two-way communication.
  • Have an effective working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very good people skills.
  • Experience level will be considered in lieu of preferred education.
  • Must be able to sit for 95% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in manufacturing or completed Apprenticeship Program in a manufacturing related trade.
